CHOP

I just found this on CHOP's website--talk about encouraging:

Best in the Nation
In an exclusive survey, Child Magazine has ranked The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia the best pediatric hospital in the United States for the fourth consecutive time. In its comprehensive 2006 survey, the magazine also ranked Children’s Hospital’s pulmonology, neonatology, oncology and orthopaedics divisions number one in the nation and the cardiac center and emergency medicine ranked second.

The survey calculated results based on criteria including survival rates, the number of complex procedures and intricate surgeries, volume of research studies, efforts to reduce medical errors and the quality and training of the doctors and nurses — as well as child-friendliness, support for families and community involvement.

Children's Hospital also ranks as the nation's finest in a survey of pediatric hospitals by U.S.News & World Report. The magazine's 2007 guide to “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” ranked us as the best hospital for children in the United States for the fifth consecutive year.

Hi Susan,

Kristin Karel sent me a link to your blog. It was fun to see the pictures of you with your husband and daughter. Congratulations on your pregnancy! What a lot you have been through lately!

I am still working at Hope Network Rehab Services as a Recreational Therapist. I know 2 people with spina bifida...both are staff. Both are wheelchair users. One teaches adaptive martial arts classes (very cool) and the other is also a Recreational Therapist who specializes in teaching about adaptive travel, as well as adaptive kayaking and water skiing.

Your family (and esspecially Whitney) will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take Good Care of yourself!!
Love,
Sandy VanderWall Oeverman, Jon, Maya, and Reuben :-)

Hey Matt and Susan! Wow, can you believe it that you are leaving NEXT week? I am excited and nervous for your family...I will PRAY HARD for you both and for your precious daughters. Know that the Lord has your ENTIRE family in His precious care and He deeply cares about each one of you. I pray that you find comfort in knowing that HE has all these "circumstances" figured out already and you are a vessel to complete those plans. Seek HIS will and follow HIS guidance and praise HIS name thru it all. "Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you." We love you. Melody Timmerman

Matt and Susan,
Thank you so much for setting up this blog so that we can pray specifically for the needs of you family. It sounds like many prayers have already been answered. Chops sounds like an fantastic place where you will have excellent care. The testimony from the family at the Ronald McDonald house was also amazing. We love you all and we will keep praying.
Love, John and Doreen Davies and Family

Good Morning Susan- Greetings from Marv & Donna Helder! Becky gave me your blog info So I knew better how to pray for you all. I am proud of you for naming your baby already _ Wow What a witness! and what a beautiful name. We will lift you all up in our prayers remembering how strong and sure our Father's care is round about me like the air is with me always every where He cares for me He cares for me (Matt, Susan, Whitney) this is a song that I taught the children in Bible Study Fellowship. These words come back to me often as I go through trials. What a comfort - that our Father is always with us in every situation! Praying and thinking of you often. Marv and Donna.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and those who have no might He increases strength.” - Isaiah 40:28,29

Susan,
It has been a long time since we have been in touch. Luke and I are praying for you. I told our son Micah about little Whitney and he said, "you know mom, God can still do miracles. We just have to ask God to heal her". We are praying for healing.

Much Love,
Luke, Julie

Hello again. I am home with a sick daughter and not feeling that great myself. Wish I was in church with you this morning to give you a big huge and let you know how much we are praying for you for safe travels, for wisdom while you are away, for strength, for peace, for a strong faith in our Lord. The Lord will never leave you or forsake you. He has you by His MIGHTY hand. That hair that fell out of your hair this morning while you were brushing it getting ready for church? He knew about it...and I bet you didnt even know one fell out! :-) If He knows about such things as a hair that is not a concern to you, He KNOWS about the things that do concern you. Rest in His loving arms. He will uphold you.
In Christs love, Melody Timmerman
