Coming Home

Big day today--Susan's coming home. I've been posting so much about Whitney that I haven't said much about how Susan's doing. Her incision is healing well--Lord willing, the staples will come out today. She's been in a maternity room two floors above the NICU, about as close to Whitney as we could get.

It has been harder on Susan than on me that we cannot simply hold and snuggle with Whitney. She did not sleep well the second night, so last night she received a little help and slept well though the night.

Until yesterday, we had so many visits from doctors, nurses, and family that we did not get a chance to talk. Yesterday, we had a chance to spend a few hours talking and sitting in Susan's room together. We thank God for the small blessing of a few hours alone.

I'm rushing around trying to get the house ready for Susan. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and kind words.

Congratulations, Susan and Matt, on the birth of a beautiful daughter! I will continue praying for all of you, especially little Whitney as she heals. God is faithful and I praise Him for the medical care Whitney has already received. May God continue to sustain and bless you and give you His peace (and healing) in the days ahead.
In Christ,

Hey Matt and Susan,
I can't imagine how you must feel- glad to be going home but it must be extremely difficult to leave your precious daughter. We will be praying for a quick recovery for Susan and Whitney- and strength for Matt and Fiona too! Fiona probably can't wait to have her mommy home with her again! Glad you got some time to talk- wonder when that will happen again??!! Just kidding:)
Have a blessed weekend and good job on the updates Matt. Our prayers are with you.
Love in Christ,
Laura Wiese

What a precious gift God has entrusted to you. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We will be praying for restful sleep for Susan, for continued healing for Whitney and Susan, and that God will richly bless each of you with His peace and joy in the busy days and weeks ahead.

"Day by day and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here: Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment, I've no cause for worry or for fear. He whose heart is kind beyond all measure Gives unto each day what He deems best- Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest." (Day By Day vs. 1)
In Christ's Love,
Pam M.

Susan (and Matt),

Bev Visser has been keeping me updated on your pregnancy throughout these last months. Beau and I have been praying for you since Whitney's diagnosis, and we are thrilled at the positive reports. One thing that I have learned over the last few years is that we cannot conceive of the ways and mysteries of God . . . but that makes Him no less present or in control.

May His love continue to cover you and your beautiful daughters (as we know it will!) in a way that is tangible and real.

Love,
Beka McDowell

Thanks Matt for your continued updates! You are doing a great job keeping it all in control. God has given you strength and health and endurance and wisdom during this entire journey and we will continue to pray that He blesses you each new day with more of it.
Susan, we will pray for you as well as you journey home without your precious gift from God. I do pray that you know she is in good hands and they are helping her as much as they can to heal her along so she can go home where she belongs. Take care of each other as you do so well...
In Christs love,

MATT AND SUSAN, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BIRTH OF WHITNEY! I LOVE THE PICTURE OF FIONA LOOKING AT HER NEW SISTER.
MY FATHER-IN-LAW IS IN THE HOSPITAL, SO I STOPPED IN ON YOUR FLOOR ON THURSDAY, BUT SUSAN WAS ALREADY GONE AND I COULDN'T SEE WHITNEY WITHOUT HER. WE ARE KEEPING YOUR FAMILY IN OUR PRAYERS! LOVE, NANCY DYKE
