Up to 12

Yesterday we had another appointment to check on Whitney's hip growth. The x rays showed an increase in growth over the past 4 weeks. We are thrilled! The doctor said she only needs to wear the brace overnight for 12 hours. When I put Whitney down for a nap and said, 'Whitney where is your brace?' she just grinned up at me. Currently we are equipment free during waking hours. In reality I know this time may not come again so we are going to live it up this summer.

Whitney continues to develop on track in fine motor and speech. We are working on crawling and she is inch worming herself around now. Fiona's personal space is shrinking. I heard her say to Whitney this morning, "STOP touching me!" I love hearing the normal sister stuff.

Another change in the past month or so has been that Whitney now goes #2 on the potty each day. One of her first words is, "poop". I think this is very funny and fantastic at the same time. It seems we have tackled the constipation monster.

What WONDERFUL news and answer to prayers! It is wonderful hearing the normal sister stuff and we are praising God with you that you are without the brace during the day! We will continue to ask Him to cover all your needs and look forward to more updates in the future. Enjoy your summer :-)

Yay for Whitney! What perfect timing it is to be brace free for summer. I'm going to the SB clinic soon and so I hope to hear that Carson will also get to be brace free for longer durations.
It was great seeing you the other day after all these years. I'm looking forward to meeting Whitney!

Way to go Whitney but WATCH OUT Fiona! That is so awesome. We are so glad to hear that things seem to be progressing in the right way and pray that the Lord will continue to help you and Whitney as you go into these new adventures. Hope you have a great summer and we look forward to hearing about her progress. Love- The VJ Verduin family

I just happened to come across your blog this week and has been so good to read. I am currently 17weeks pregnant and found out our little boy has spina bifida. Your positive attitude during all your trials with Whitney are so good to hear. It helps to assure me that we are headed down an unknow path, but a blessed one. Wishing you much luck with Whitney.
